About Us
Our Story
Unity Interpreting and Consulting (UIC) serves companies and not-for-profit organizations providing expert interpreter services, community health program support and staff interpreter training programs to improve their ability to serve clients.
Founder Saida A. Sanchez has over two years of real-time interpreter experience and has worked with such organizations as Beacon Link LLC. Modes of interpretation include, over-the-phone interpretation (OPI), on-site interpretation (OSI), and video-remote interpreting (VRI). In addition, she has ventured into the world of translation with the occasional volunteer assignment.
Ms. Sanchez holds a bachelor of arts degree in Latin American Studies from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) degree from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA with an emphasis on community wellbeing. With over 15 years’ experience in health education and health promotion practice, her passion for founding UIC comes from a deep desire to nurture healthy outcomes and empower the individual’s agency for change. Health disparities and language barriers in particular position individuals, families and communities at a disadvantage when it comes to health equity. By having a skilled interpreter present, and a solid theoretical framework as a foundation for program development and implementation, those barriers are significantly reduced. Thus, the exchange of communication coupled with best practice recommendations in programmatic activities builds trust with constituents and favorable results for the organization.
